The Kentucky Lottery declared that its earnings hit a record $1.45 billion for the financial year 2021.
While revenue figures for the final month of the financial year have not been made public, earnings have already surpassed the $1.2 billion mark for the entire 2020 financial year.
Earnings for fiscal year 2021 were up 35.3% from the same period in fiscal year 2020, a rise of $379.4 million. This is $284 million, or 24.3%, greater than the operator’s budget.
Instant scratch-off tickets continue to be the main driver of lottery earnings growth, with instant ticket sales reaching $880.6 million by the end of the period. This resulted in a 34.1% increase in instant ticket sales from the same period last year.
Online instant games generated $105.5 million in revenue, with total lottery sales increasing by $84.4 million from the previous year. Instant games are now the operator’s third largest sales product, behind scratch-off tickets and Pick 3.
