AGS has designated Robert Blair to the role of Associate General Counsel. Blair comes to AGS from Aruze Gaming.
PlayAGS, a provider of slot machines, table games, and casino management software, is strengthening its legal department with this new hire. Prior to joining AGS, Blair acted as the Worldwide General Counsel for Aruze Gaming, where he also held titles such as Worldwide Deputy General Counsel and Worldwide Senior Intellectual Property Counsel. Aruze Gaming has recently been divesting some of its operations, such as its electronic table game holdings to Interblock, and its slot machine business to Play Synergy. Blair’s background also encompasses a period as a US Patent Lawyer at EIP and as the Vice President of Patents at Unwired Planet.
Possessing over two decades of experience in the field, Blair contributes a wealth of knowledge to AGS, especially in optimizing expenditures, managing portfolio agreements, addressing litigation and enforcement tactics, and overseeing patent portfolios.
Rob Ziems, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of AGS, voiced his faith in Blair, remarking, “Bob is an outstanding legal expert and a significant asset to the AGS executive team. His vast understanding and proficiency in corporate legal matters and patent issues will be essential in safeguarding and promoting our business and trademarks as AGS continues to leverage the numerous expansion prospects that await.”
In her capacity as Associate General Counsel, Blair will be responsible for a diverse portfolio of legal affairs. Collaborating closely with the leadership team, she will ensure the company’s adherence to all applicable laws and regulations as it expands.
Blair joins the organization at a pivotal juncture as AGS accelerates its global growth strategy. Their recent earnings report for the second quarter underscored this initiative, revealing that their products are now available in 29 states across the US, four provinces in Canada, and even a jurisdiction beyond North America. The company is clearly focused on acquiring new customers, particularly larger enterprises.
A key element of their approach involves leveraging their international footprint. AGS intends to strategically allocate resources to sustain a robust global network of electronic gaming machines for the remainder of 2023.
