A top app and digital experience firm, Mkodo, is cautioning gaming entities about upcoming App Store regulations from Apple. The imminent guidelines, set to be implemented soon, indicate that any application offering services like wagering on sports, casino-style games, bingo, or lottery-based activities will need to elevate their offerings. In essence, this update (version 4.2) emphasizes that the in-app experience must be distinguishable from what users encounter on the corresponding website via Safari.

Apple is advocating for applications to possess distinctive functionalities, content, and a user interface that genuinely differentiates them from their web counterparts. Mkodo anticipates this update will generate significant waves within the industry, affecting both major corporations and smaller enterprises.

Stuart Godfree, the Managing Director and Co-founder of Mkodo, stated frankly: “Apple’s mandate for all apps to provide native content, separate from the web experience, will carry tangible consequences for both new and current apps in our domain.” He highlighted that facing rejection could prove expensive, both in terms of repeated submissions and the time sacrificed in regaining App Store presence. His recommendation? Collaborate with specialists possessing a deep understanding of the App Store and Google Play Store intricacies to mitigate the potential for rejection.
